Do you ever encounter people that don't know where eggs come from?

A friend of mine has a failing business and they are in danger of losing their house, so I pass along some eggs and produce periodically to ease their grocery bill. I asked if she wanted some goat milk. She, BTW, grew up in El Paso, TX and used to eat cabrito (baby goat) on a regular basis. When I mentioned the milk, she made a face and said "No thanks. My girls won't drink milk that stinks." I looked over to her daughters, thinking they might be open to the idea. "No," the oldest said. "We don't like feta cheese."

Despite my arguments that feta is actually quite salted, aged and contains a specific bacteria and that the cottage cheese I made with goat milk is actually quite bland, they snuck away during my tirade.

When I told my neighbor we had chickens, he asked what were we going to do with eggs!!! He looked at me like I was crazy when I told him we were going to EAT them. He'd probably have a heart attack if I took him over some brown eggs.

Well I've just read most of these pages and these are all very funny stories!!!

But as I always say... There are no stupid questions... only stupid answers.
So good on these people for at least asking if hens need roosters to lay. Let's face it, they'd be a lot more stupid if they hadn't have asked. hehehe.

It is a bit frustrating though explaining it a hundred times.

haven't encountered this one about eggs. But, I remember a few years ago at a Farm Fair in the City, I was admiring a mama pig and her babies, I heard the people next to me say " so this is where Bacon comes from, interesting". they had no idea that pork meant PIG.

I had a good inner chuckle.
