What on earth? Seriously? If you dont want your kids looking at tattoos, make sure you keep them in the house at all times, and when you go out, put duct tape on their eyes. If you dont want them to hear bad things, I suggest ear plugs as well. Honestly do you think sheltering a kid is going to help anything? How about sitting them down and telling them about tattoos. Make sure you arent biased when explaining them, but let them know you dont approve. Then when they are 18 and can decide for themselves, they arent in shock that people have tattoos? And earings? And even that their are more than one religions in the world?

That is awesome, piecemaker, and definitely something worth showing off. I have a cancer ribbon on my ankle for a friend (testicular cancer, actuallly) as a little reminder how quickly that demon can become a part of any of our lives.

Sounds like you have parents who let you be yourself and express who you are, shmooborp. That is wonderful. I never influence my kids decisions on their looks..though I do ask a couple of times if they are sure before any major change (like crayon red hair). I know I would hate to have to look the way someone else wanted me to.

I have a few ink spots, but I think I'd have to post them in a PM ...wouldn't want any kids to see my shoulder blade or chest or calf ..and oh yeah.. my lower back

I like that survival ribbon! Congratulations on beating it back!!

My son is a tattooist and he isn't some freak with tattoos all over . You wouldn't even know he has any except for the picture of his son on his right forearm. Which he did ask me permission to put it there. He was 18 years old when he asked. You see he promised me he wouldn't put any on him that would show and cause him trouble when he went for an interview or job related thing.

I have two and love both of them. My mother in law got one for her 70th birthday.

Let's not judge someone by tattoos. Some are very nice and they don't mean that you are a criminal.

It just burns me sometimes when people judge to quickly .

Umm... Sorry, Tats are not beautiful art...they are trashy!

That wasn't gospel, that was YOUR OPINION. Do you also think the cave drawings are trashy because someone drew on a wall?

I find dyed hair offensive and a waste of resources. Should I tell everyone who spends a small fortune looking the way they want to look that they're trashy?

Sucks to be judged by wearing a tattoo, but thats the way it is. Some see them as unclean, disease issues etc. Anyone get the HEP? Would you be proud enough to admit it? What about AIDS? When they do the tattoo, do they still give a guarantee to be free of any diseases?
It used to be the only people who got tattoos were in the military...then it meant something. Now, its just ho-hum...

If you get one, make sure it does not get too much sun, wont stretch out when pregnant, or when your arse droops.

Don't know how it USED to be, but I know that now, when someone in the military gets one, they have to sign a waiver that states they are knowingly defacing government property. Tattoo artists get constant and regular health checks (ummm....worded strange, I mean the shop is inspected). Their facilities are required to be clean and disease free. As for judging, I don't know of one single instance where I was judged harshly because I have one. People aren't ALL so shallow.

Does anybody know why Mr. Rogers (Mr. Rogers neighborhood, kids TV show) always wore a long sleeved shirt or sweater?

The dear mans arms were covered in tattoo's he got while in the military, before becoming a pastor and TV star.

Tattoo's certainly don't make a person bad, I like them although I don't have any myself.

Really? Just curious where that information came from.

Each branch of service has its own regulations governing tattoos. Military is a pretty broad term. (Not trying to be contentious, just asking a question.)
