I would like to get one in a couple years, But I dont know what I would want to get. It will take a lot of thinking before I settle on something. Because that tattoo will be there FOREVER.

Did you see that show Miami Ink? They are sooo talented. I think that they do great portraits. It looks just like the real thing.

Is it an official government document or just something the artists are doing. I just looked at the Army Regulation (2005 or 2006 and it seemed the most current) that covered tattoos and it wasn't in there.

It reminds me of the tale about a soldier getting sunburned and getting in trouble for damaging government property. Although you are subject to a whole bunch of rules and regulations your body is not government property.

I have a tattoo, but I want to have a cover-up done on it. It is a really old Chinese character for "trust," but it is so old, no one even knows what it means now

I can't wear a tshirt without it showing. It is on my upper arm. I never even remember it is there unless someone is staring at it, and that is usually a little kid

I guess I am poisoning their fragile minds

I want the cover-up to be a tree with long branches, something nature-related. I might get a chicken tattoo, too!

This is my son's tattoo. His grandfather and I took him to get it for his 16th birthday present. It memorializes my mother, my son's grandmother. They were very close, as we all were. My son's tattoo is beautiful. My son is beautiful. His tattoo does not make him "trashy". On the contrary, it is a symbol of his sweet heart. We often refer to it as "the family tattoo". It just means so much to all of us.

And this is my son. Quite the dapper gentleman. Uh, I'll have to get a smiling picture of him up on Photobucket. He really is happy to be dressed up in that suit...LOL!

*sigh* I said it is something the shops are doing. As you stated, the regs are different for different branches so it covers their rear. I haven't seen a reputable shop that doesn't require you to sign...obviously I haven't checked every shop in the US. And I am sure some ae worded different but the ones I read stated it exactly as I said.

Sorry if got to sounding argumentative. It wasn't my intention. I retired from the Army and when I see things like "defacing government property" my hackles raise. I personally think it is a waste of time on the shops' part. I would venture to say that all members of the military receive some sort of briefing/training on tattoos before and after enlisting.

Thanks for your understanding.
