do you have photos of ideal chickens?

I got almost all mine from Ideal and so far have only lost one to a dog attack. They are all just fine looking and really good egg layers too! I will get some picks on here for you tomorrow. I have to run out to work right now.

I have Barnvelders and Welsummers from Ideal last spring. They are healthy birds. We ordered two other chicks that died shortly after shipping but I don't believe that is a reflection on Ideal at all.

Only the Welsummers and Barnevelders are from Ideal. The others are from Murray McMurray, except for the silkie rooster, who was hatched here at home.

thankyou everyone for all the comments and photos. I am hoping this will help alot of people. it is pretty hard to get an idea of what an actual bird will look like from a hatchery photo. the breeds like the turkens and ee say they come in multiple colors. it is wonderful to actually see the colors. I have read the posts about genetic defects of hatchery birds such as extra or bent toes. it is nice to see a bunch of good looking healthy birds. takes away some of the fear of ordering.

Rhett&SarahsMom :

All but one of my girls came from Ideal.

I had none dead and all were/are healthy. We got them in late May early June last year. They were shipped on Wed and arrived on Thursday. TX to MA in ONE DAY! Nearly all are laying now and when the weather warms I am hoping to be up to "full production" LOL
One of my BO's is the epitome of Buff Orps. She is talky, but not loud. friendly to the point of being dog like and is incredibly affectionate.

I may order from another source this year, since I dont need a lot of chicks. But I will admit I am nervous about doing so.

I also have a BO. I would also describe her personality as dog-like. she is one of the ones I like best.

Hen'nbiddies :

I placed an order (my first in 25 years) with McMurrays in January, and after reading the good reports on Ideal here at BYC, I've placed an order with Ideals to be shipped out the 18th of this month (both hatcheries chicks/goslings are supposed to get here the same week). So far I really like their customer service: I've emailed/called Ideal about 5 times now to increase my order and each time they have been very nice (McMurray was also very nice too when I called them to increase my order). Between the two hatcheries I'm up to 107 chicks (104 hens, 3 Roosters) and 8 geese. My wife has threatened to take away my credit card if I don't stop ordering more (I look at the pictures here at BYC... and I like a lot of different kinds!).
