I have 6 white leghorns that are a little snippish and not friendly. We have called them the sixtuplet witches (honestly have a hard time telling them apart)

My husband bought me a BO that is Lucy and a BR that is Ethel. And Lucy is a ring leader and Ethel keeps back and then sometimes she follows Lucy's lead. They do remind me of Lucy and Ethel from the I Love Lucy show.

We name ours because they are family.

New Hampshire red..Shelly because she looked tortise shell
Partridge Rock..Cajun because cajun chicken is blackened
Silver laced Wyandotte...Moonlight because she looks like moonlight on a dark night
Buff Orpington...Sunshine because she looks like sunshine
Splash Cochin...Splash because of her splashes of color and DD isn't always creative

How you folks with a bunch of chickens keep track of each and every named chicken, well,

I have 16 chickens, 2 separate coops. One group is the older girls and the other is the chicks. I have names for some of them and most can't be published

Seriously, most of the laying hens are called 'mama'. I still can't tell the chicks apart from each other so they don't have names, at least ones that are nice.

Some of them earn names because of their unique personalities. None of my RIRs have names because I really can't tell them apart. But the 3 roosters and a few of the EEs have names.

Puff Daddy, Georgie, and Rusty are the roosters.
Then we have Whitey, OJ, Squawker (or Cuckoo), Stripes... I guess thats it.

My kids named our 6 chicks and we had no input

Goldy (Buff Rock rooster.. (supposed to be hen)

_
Chirpy (Buff Orpington rooster (supposed to be hen)

Bloo (after Bloo from the carton Fosters home for Imaginary friends.. Bard rock hen
Terry (bard rock rooster (supposed to be hen))
Margot (easter egger hen)
Stripes (easter egger hen)

the 2 newbies (i picked these names! sorry kids!

)
Lucy (red star hen)
Ethel (black star hen)

We named our rooster Elvis Roo because he gets up on the perch, positions his feet just right, shakes his head, and then crows.

The leghorns, we can't tell apart, so they are generic - same with the red stars except for one that is darker, and we call her Red

The wyandotte is Wynona and the EE is Easter.
