I have a real problem putting my extremities in holes and not knwing what I'm reaching for...actually more of a phobia to be honest...don't know why, but I do:>) Just thinking of doing that gives me chills
I seen that once on Man vs. Wild. He was noodling for a catfish. The thing was bigger than his arm, and it ate his hand... as the hand was bait? He wrestled it and ended up eating it....
This was in the Bayou's of Louisiana. I don't know but if it was me... I think I would have a snapping turtle bite my fingers off. Do you were gloves when doing this? Because Bear Grills didn't... and I couldn't even imagine doing this with bare hands.
I could see it now... Me standing in waste deep water..... wiggling my pinkie (Pinkie because I wouldn't miss it too much if it got bit off) in the middle of a river... in water I couldn't see through..
No way... no how... never!! Why anyone would want to do that I don't know.
I feel much safer in a boat with a pole.... I like my chances better, and this way I don't have to pray on losing my fingers....
gloves!...we don't need no stinkin' gloves! Noodling is a great past-time pasted down from father to son in those lineages of the backwoods and slightly non forking trees...but we love it! Your hands aren't so much bait as they are the hook...turtles aren't really an issue...muskrats and beavers...now those are problems! Just avoid the holes with air pockets and you are fine! As far as little kids go...that is why they invented rope...for those really big fish the kid can be used as bait...just don't let the wife find out
