With my own name, my parents had no regrets. Robin, because when I was born as a premie, one pound and so many oz. As my Dad puts it, he could put me on his big hands, as blueish as I was, like a little robin that just hatched. Defied the odds of survival in the 60's, I was a miracle baby. However as I was growing up, the classmates were teasing me unrelentlessly about my name as a "Rocking Robin Bird" and my Maternal grandmother named me "Robin Egg" which I would cringe everytime I heard it from her.
As for my daughter, Kathlena Mary Elizabeth, well, it was a challenging part when both boyfriend (now hubby) and I were butting heads about the time I had her that I thought we agreed on it and then he decided to pull a fast one on me. The nurse said the mother has the right to name her child, whether you approve it or not. LOL!
I loved the song "Kathleen Mauroveen", an old Irish ballad. My hubby's beautiful great grandmother was Mary Pauline and hubby wanted to name her Pauline. I HATED that name but found out that her nick name was "Lena" as she was affectionately called. I liked her first name Mary and always loved the name Elizabeth. So with much writing, doodling her name around, trying to get the Kathleen figured out Kath Lena, drop the extra e and add the a at the end. Perfect.
Katie is a very strong willed child, with dreams so far and vast it could be anything when she grows up. She does not back down after a fight either whether it is good or bad, she is not going to let up to let people know she is not to be bullyied but so helpful when others are down. Sometimes she can be manlipulative as well or being very unreasonable or unrealistic when her sights were set so high. I guess her name as alot to do with it along with her daddy's hard headed genes being passed down.
She will be the only child and I do not have any regrets in naming her at all.
