Do you think it's rude....

Not rude at all!!!! Though of course me - I would just call the police w/ license plate # and report them. Here its a minimum 100$ Maximum 500$ fine.

People are inconsiderate of those people that NEED those parking places - and it peeves me off - especially those with stickers who are PERFECTLY fine. The only time I understand parking without a sticker is if say your 9 months pregnant and about to pop - but got to go to wal-mart and you got no one else to do it for you - and your afraid to walk halfway across the parking lot - I have seen a few women here who are VERY preggo do it and get one of the electric carts. But if you can walk around the stores/park or whatever - you can walk across the parking lot.

Mangled I agree with you. One of the reasons we put the HC places in was because a local woman has an autistic son and she likes to park close to try and avoid as much 'stimulation' outside the store as possible - he doesn't look handicapped either. But I also have about 4 others that come by on a regular basis and use it, it's there for them, not for someone too fat or lazy to walk a few more steps. AND before someone jumps all over my butt about FAT, well me and hubby are BOTH fat, but we're not afraid to walk a few more steps even tho he SHOULDN'T because of horribly bad knees.

I work for our local transit authority and I am a freakin gestapo about the handicapped spaces. I see someone without a placard park there, I am right out that door hollerin at them to move and move now. We have PLENTY of riders that are handicapped and when they manage a ride into the office to buy passes and such, they BETTER have a spot to park!!!!

PS - My mom is disabled, so I have a reason to act that way. Beside the fact that those fat butts can just haul their substantial backsides across the parking lot like the rest of us fat people.

We are lucky to get the cops out here for serious things, much less something like this.

Had a woman walk in today, parked in teh HC spot and as hubby is walking out the door she says "Yep, we're one of those people that read signs after we get out of the car." Hubby is nodding his head and going "Mmm-hmmm." She said, "I can move it if you really want me to." Hubby says "That would be greatly appreciated."

Did she move.
No.

Hey I am a big girl myself! I have a bad knee but I love to walk. If I'm alone I park halfway down the lot. When my DD is with me - I do like to park close especially in heatwaves, raining, or snow - but I would NEVER take a handicap spot! I go to the end of the lot by the garden entrance where theres almost always good places near the front of the store. - I just have to walk a bit farther indoors to get where I want to go -but better than slipping and sliding or my shoes feeling like they are going to melt on the pavement (heat is hard on my daugther's asthma).

I want to smack people who use their elderly parents or grandparents and use their handicap placards. Its not for YOUR convenience its for THEIR convenience and health. I don't see how that is hard to comprehend.

This is when I'd tell the woman she could turn her butt around and move it or find somewhere else to get her fat snacks ....Though I know realistically its not a good option for you guys owning a small store - you probably need the business unless someone is really disrespectful but still the feeling is there I bet

I ALMOST did it, I really almost did, but you're right, I HAVE to make money now, and I've only got 6 more weeks to get it made. So, I let hubby make the nicely snide remarks and hopefully she will at least THINK about it the next time she does it. I didn't, however, say thank you to her.

The standards are pretty strict, but not all handicaps are visible. I have at times qualified due to my asthma, but from looking at me you might not have any sort of clue that walking more than a few feet at a time will send me into severe breathing spasms.

I never go by looks, and I just have been giving the shadow of a doubt with people that don't look HC that park there. If there's not a tag I can see, I ask.

I don't think it is rude for a business owner to enforce these handicap spaces. Would I confront someone who parks there? Nope...none of my business at all. I don't fill my day sticking my nose into other people's business when I have enough of my own to deal with.

Does it irritate me when people do this? Sort of...but then, you can't always tell when someone is, or is not, handicapped by merely looking at them. Or they may not have a placard or sticker because their handicap is due to a recent surgery or injury of some type....hence the reason I mind my own business.
