Do you think my chicken is show quality?

I planed on breeding him, would he pass his reddish skin trait to his offspring? My other silkie pullets have very dark skin so they would contribute evenly right?

Depends if its a recessive gene. If its a dominant gene = no go.

Drat. Is there a way for me to tell if it is a dominant gene? Or do I have to breed to find out?

Breeding is one way and I can't remember if there's a genome test for chickens.

Black skin (Fm) is dominant. While I prefer a darker comb, his is well within the acceptable range of mulberry colouring. I would be more concerned about the shape of his comb than the colour. I don't like all the spikes over its surface.

He is now 6 months old and crowing!!

His comb (as you can see) still has those spikes, and they seem to be larger.

Is this a major problem? Would it affect him in the show ring?
He is entered in the state fair poultry show in two weeks.

Oh, he has some blue marks on his beak, Do you have any idea what those could be?
