Do you think this will help them lay more eggs?

My chickens have really been slacking this spring. If it's not a molt it's broodiness. Ach. So I decided to build a water fountain for them just outside their run for a zen-like experience hoping the soothing sounds of the water will help them to relax. Next I plan on piping in some Enya or Yanni music and lighting some aromatherapy candles.

Anyway, the resin chicken statue I got at Walmart for $7.00 and the pump I got at a garden center for $12.00. After intubating the chicken statue I buried a cat litter bucket to within an 1 1/2" of the top, put the pump in the bottom, connected the hose to the statue, placed a filtration matt and metal grate on some bricks in the bucket and filled 'er up with water. Lastly I attempted to artfully arrange some rocks around the bucket to hide the rim. Just hope the mosquitoes don't find the fountain.....

If that don't work, grab them by the neck and with the other hand grip the bird firmly while sliding you hand towards their feet

In other words milk the darn things out!

Maybe they will get the message, if not show them a cookbook with roast chicken pictures and ask which way they would prefer

Very cool. Nice work too. If egg production increases, let me know. I want to be able to run down to Walmart before everyone else beats me there. You know how a good idea can be contagious, and how we're all looking for that extra edge. Bet Walmart'll never figure out why they had a run on resin chickens.LOL.
