do you use pellet bedding or shavings? which one

there is a guy here that swears by it, in all his pics you can see the pellets at the chooks feet. he says he has been using them for years and I love the pics of his birds and he seems to know A lot! I have switched over and will be using them exclusively once my bag of pine shavings is gone. I started using them in some of my brooders after the chicks get to a week or 2 in age and really like them.

Plus the ones I can get say Organic on them which makes me very happy lol

Pellets are cheaper, but if you ever stepped on them with bare feet, you would prefer the shavings

Pellets! You will have a lot less waste to throw in your compost pile. I use shavings and pellets in the coop because I was having problems with moisture, not anymore! I use pellets in the goat shed. Love em!

I believe they squish the saw dust into pellets and then as they get wet they break down back into the sw dust form. They do create less dust although that sounds like an oxymoron.

i am confused.... you are supposed to wet them so they crumble...... into like saw dust.... they shouldn't still be pellets.

Wifezilla they shouldn't hurt your feet if they are used correctly.

i used to work at this store and people love them. they say the start up is more, you need like six bags to do a horse stall but then ad a bag a week or two.
i am using two bags of shavings in a stall and my horses must dance on it all day long. in a days time they have the whole thing a mess and it is hard to pick it out. i go thru alot because they mess them up so quickly.....

Hummm pellets this sounds interesting.
I have been using wood shavings and it sure can get messy
when the flock all start doing the chicken dance LOL
did i miss something??
are the pellets only for horses??

Pellet stove pellets are often cheaper than bedding pellets and are usually the same thing. Read the label carefully though.
