Do your chickens whine?

Willow the other day sounded like someone was killing her. She ended up not even laying anything until later that day! Some days, they're just loud. At least they're quiet at night!

My Speckled Sussex is definitely the highest pitched, constant whiner in the group. The EE's are very quiet, except for their growling egg song. The Orps are the barkers. They bark once loudly, especially on landing their wide selves by flying somewhere. The roo is a deep voiced, grumbling, muttering whiner. He has yet to crow, so I figure it's what he has to offer for now!

I love chicken music of all kinds!

Seems to me your hens need some rooster lovin'.

We didnt have a dominant roo for a while,but Speckles my commercial rock roo had stepped in and controled the situation..err umm I mean the girls controlled him.When he came of age,they lined up behind him for some loving.It was the oddest thing,but what was worse is that he was clumsey.He would mount them and fall off after a few mere seconds.Funny stuff,but the girls set him straight and now hes not so clumsey.

But when there was no dominant roo,the wined my ears off,and Squarked in funny tones.

I have uploaded a recording of a sound that drives me nuts - is this what you mean by whining?
They do it whenever I move around in my house, or they spot me through the window, or I flush the toilet or fire up the boiler. Anything but sit deathly still in a chair. AArrrgh!!! One leads, and the others chorus along.

One of my hens (White Leghorns, 22 weeks) starting to whine a week ago. She is not yet laying, she got food, fresh water, treats, looks healthy, and is warm and dry. But she whines with all sorts of noises throughout the day, only shuts up when I pick her up. She is the only one making all these noises. Is she sick or just seeking attention?

My 12 week old little silkie cries non stop in the evening. It's almost annoying, lol. She's the funniest looking little whiny thing on the planet. I swear nothing makes her happy until she wiggles in between the rest of the girls and falls asleep.
