Doberman Appreciation Thread!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah for sure the breed community is full of jerks.

Just curious, based on what you know about GSDs how would you compare them to Dobermans? I do really like GSDs…

I will have to have a better look at dobermans again tomorrow but the feeling I get is that doberman are less intense and excitable, calmer generally. They haven't been bred as extreme as some shepherds

I have heard some people saying the are watered down and it's difficult to find really good ones for bitework but then again I think some of the shepherds are too much, more then is healthy or actually good

That makes sense! I feel the same way about many agility and/or flyball dogs now LOL we are probably not thinking the same trait but clearly there IS a trait or two and that’s what I mean LOL

I agree, and I do think that a top of the line working line German Shepherd would be better than the top of the line working line Doberman in bite sports. Though I do feel like a really good quality working line Doberman definitely has the ability to do well in bite sports. First and foremost for me, though, he will be a pet, so I am more concerned about looking for qualities that I think will be the best pet for me, and then sports is second. How do you think German shepherds and dobermans compare just as pets?

I mean I’ll yap about anything dog related LOL even though I’m not huge on Dobermans (I know, I know ) but I do LOVE any and all shepherds so hearing the comparisons is interesting to me.

My favorites are probably GSDs and Aussies but I also love Mals (or any of the Belgian Shepherds) and Dutchies and crosses of the two plus English Shepherds and Anatolian Shepherds etc. LOL
