Docile Rooster Breeds ?

Cochin and Brahma roos are both good boys. I have two Brahmas and they are good (though my #2 does does go after the guys that go in the coop). My big man Burt is always on alert and is very serious but I can pick him up and snuggle with him no problem. My 2 boys are learning to deal with Silas, the #2. My #3, a spangled Hamburg roo, is high strung but I can hold him when I need to.

My Silkie does a good job, hope he's up to fertilizing my hens...

He is a good watcher and calls them over to eat- he's not hand tamed and occasionally sneaks up on my Hubble but not on me.

He keeps them roosted in bad weather and feeds them first... does the 'hawk call' and the 'ground call' gets between the hens and the 'bad thing'.

He crows whenever something/one leaves the yard- like He did something to make that happen.

i heared that light brahmas were a very gentle and quiet bird. i need a rooster who doesnt think he must defeat anything who isnt a hen. i ordered 6 light brahmas ,5 hens 1 cockrel with my last order of BOs and RIRs , they are coming on the 10th of march. i plan on sending all my roos to freezer camp and just keeping one. i hope this L B cockrel grows into a really decent roo who isnt the agent of the devil , like some roosters who shall remain nameless.
i will let you know how he turns out, anyone else have LB roos , how are they? ive never had them before.

My EE roo is a good boy too and my very first roo. Of course, after reading all the stories about mean roos he was started on an intense course of good citizen training from chickhood. It seems to have worked.

I know I am way different then the ordinary BYCer. But, since I had to protect my Roo's comb from the cold under freezin weather, I let a couple of my boys roam around the house in different rooms. One is in my breezway, the other gets the guest bedroom, and PoPs and Peaches gets the basement. Their all gentle large breeds anyway, Orps and Cochins, but their like puppy dogs now. They follow me around wanting Animal Cracker treats. My other out door boys are still nice gentle birds, but more distant then these three. Especially Doc the Blue Roo. He is a clown. Here he is harassing a BCM cockerel who does not get to run around. And taunting him. lolol
