Does any one know where to get african pygmy geese

Got my forms printed, figured up the cost so far for quarantine and permitting . The high end on that so far is 580 for a pr. Im over estimating on all this. Cost of birds are two options.( easiest to come from UK ,Belgium next.) But lets just say "The price is right for the headache of all this. And all the birds are young from adults that are not related and used to the domestic life sorta speak. I didnt want "wild birds". Maimi is where they would quarantine so I can drive there when its over with. Just have to find out about their flight plan and cost over here. Sounds simple enough Not

But getting my ducks in a row for now. Really Im doing the process backward now but when it comes to crunch time I have found this helps when its turned around for the final plan on these kind of things. And yes it will take a coupla months before it happens any way. So NO mistakes on mine or the other parties involved. But yea blunt and to the point I think I can keep it under or at least right at 2000 even on the high end . I hope it all turns out ok. To be honest I may wait even longer to try and get two prs for the sake of doing the birds right. Lots to think and talk about.

I would want to do it as well but if i lost a bird i would be crushed plus theres so many factors involved it would be horrible transaction and i would rather get some from sylvan so i wouldnt take a chance of loseing a bird or something

You could lose a bird either way. Also why I am shooting for two pair. The main two reasons Im jumping thru all the hoops are the price and new genetics brought in for better breeding possibilities. Imported birds are the gold standard. Then sylvan has interest in you. Although I dont see any worries getting those duckings sold if they produce for ya.

Don't know what your $$$ situation is, but it would be best to get 3 to 4 pair, the more bloodlines the better. You will be happy you did it.
You picking the birds up from Miami yourself will save you the shipping cost to your place. Your going to have to find a broker down there also, more $$$, quite a few fees you don't have listed also. Crate(s) also have to be fumigated to go in the US. Are they a CITES
listed species? Not trying to scare you from doing it, but thing like this need and should be dome by more willing breeders.
Someday in the near future it will be impossible to do, we are limited in the pheasants and other galliformes as of this day.
You can't get anything out of China and a few other countries in that part of the world now, from the Avian flu scare years back,
probably never open back up again. Good Luck

Money situation 2 prs.personally. Although I would love to join forces with others on the endeavour. Not CITES listed by the way. What is a broker needed for on my end? about crates will ask. thanks for the heads up . Not scared or intimadated. I have the will and the want.

Knew about the limited imports you mentioned. Have you ever imported any birds personally ? Besides crates do you mind telling me the other fees so the less surprizes the better. You can comment on here as Im sure Im not the only interested party or PM me. Either way thanks Shawn

That's great Shawn. Think on that other forum, they were saying they are a dime a dozen in the UK. Like $100 a pair or so, $300 on the high end, so bird cost would be minimum if you can pull off the permit....that would be awesome

Giving it my best shot,Thanks. Im gonna hit that up as well for way more input. As you know straight up answers wether you like them or not. But the knowledge factor burst over there for this type of stuff especially. Looks like I was going to wade in the pond but Im already smimming. So far its about what I expected really. But the end result still looks great. I quess I like challanges at this point in my life.

Shawn,
Have to leave for bowling in a few minutes, will get back on the import costs.tomorrow. You need a import liscence first off,
was $100. Yes, I have imported a few times and have had birds imported by another person. in the last 10 years or so.
If the birds are that cheap, you should bring in a few pairs. A broker takes the birds off the plane, transports to the quarentine station for the vet test, etc. Hopefully they arrive on station hours or you will get charged overtime. I'll get the info. on the broker I used in Miami.
The breeder that you purchase from may not charge you for crates, if they are made out of wood, they have to be fumigated for
foreign bugs etc. in the wood. Will post more info. tomorrow.
