Does anyone else get frustrated at shows like "Animal Cops"

That episode with the algae in the tank torqued me off too. Take someone's horses because some algae was growing on the sides of the tank. the water was VERY CLEAR and looked drinkable to me. Those people just run around looking for reasons to screw over people and take their animals so they can get face time on tv it seems. There must be a lot of legitimate calls they go on. The fact that they don't even know they are filming themselves making ignorant decisions, violating the Constitution (by unreasonable search and SEIZURE of their animals) just makes me blanche. And they make their own shortcomings be about "being overwhelmed" by the numbers of animals they take. They are hoarders of the worst sort, themselves. They cause more disease and death than any puppy miller ever. It is systematic and WE are footing the bill for it, no less!

The simple answer is that most are not cops but just citizens that put on a uniform an a badge that says ASPCA. Not being real government officials the 4th amendment does not apply. But by looking like them they get treated by the law by both the public an people that should know better.

Then shouldn't these impersonators be jailed for theft, trespassing, and impersonating an officer?

You would think but the badge saying ASPCA makes it not impersonating an for them to be charged with trespassing someone has to know they are not cops an press charges. They try hard to make it where you cant tell them from a real cop. Remember animal cops in many places are real cops working for the city. How many people know which they have in there city?

I remember that episode with the cat, I was yelling at the tv. Sometimes I have to turn the show off. There was one in Detroit (pitbulls are illegal there). This man had two American bulldogs and they said they were pitts so he had to get rid of them or they would take them and put them down. It's sad. I really think that since they have the power to take peoples pets and possibly euthanize them they should know what they are dealing with, or at least get a second opinion from an expert or breeder. Someone who knows the difference between a wild cat and a large tabby, or a pitbull and a bulldog.

Your post reminded me of the Find the Pitbull Test . Some are no brainers, but apparently all the breeds in the test are commonly mistaken for pitbulls.

I remember that test, I did it years ago. Some do like very similar, but some look nothing alike. I have a lab/pointer mix, he has the build of a pointer but a more lab type head. He is white with light brown patches. You wouldn't believe how many people ask if he is a pit.

Got the pit on the first try.

The algae thing always gets me. When I would empty the HUGE waterer to clean it, the horses would always get in my way because the wanted to eat the algae. If I walked away for 10 minutes there would be scrape marks all up the side and on the bottom where the were eating it. Ever notice how many animals the "foster families" have? I saw an episode where a foster family already had 7 cats, I don't know how many dogs and the were being patted on the back for taking a mother cat and her kittens. If it was anybody else it would be hoarding!

I don't have TV, but if I did, there would be no way I'd even watch such a show....such drivel and nonsense and so shamelessly dramafied for the viewing public. I'd have to be missing a few brain cells to sit through one whole show feeling that upset over something I couldn't control.
