Does anyone have or has anyone used this?

Its a heated plastic 3 gallon waterfont for those looking.

Sorry OP no info from me, just 5 minutes of my time spent LOOKING at your thread and clicking on the link.

it appears that it can be hung, because there is a hole in the handle. i am not sure it would be a good idea to hang though, just because of the cord being all wonky on the side.

i don't have a heated unit myself, so i cannot speak with experience, only thought.

the entire white part unscrews from the red bottom. then you flip and fill. place bottom on, screw together and flip upright.

the cord probably wouldn't need to be covered. chickens (generally!) wont just peck and peck at something hard.

hope you find what you are looking for!

I *think* it is a new item for this year (lots of companies are selling it but it all appears to be the same item) so if that's true then you won't get much help on peoples' experiences with using it yet.

I've got one but have not used it yet.

I can tell you that I would not for a moment consider hanging it, personally; you plug an extension cord into two prongs on the red base and IMHO if it were hanging there would be too much chance of the cord getting disconnected and/or water sploshing over and running down the outside of the base and getting into the connection. It =NEEDS= to be plugged into a GFCI outlet so there would not be too much in the way of shock hazard from that but if it trips the GFCI the heater will shut off, plus which you don't really want to test the 'not too much' part.

As I say, haven't used mine yet, but I see nothing obvious about it that makes me worry about it ahead of time, or anything like that. Ask again in a couple months

(my coop is still running about 45-50 F inside, as it is large and concrete-floored)

We have it but this is gona be our first winter with it. We'll let you know how it goes.

I plan on getting one of these too before winter sets in. I just used and still do heated dog water bowls in winter but this waterer will hold more. I keep the dog bowls up on bricks and will do this one the same. My chickens have never bother the cords from the heated bowls.

The cheapest I've seen it so far is $35.95 + $7.oo for shipping at American Livestock Supply. Has anyone seen it cheaper somewhere else?

Hi all,

I just purchased one of these yesterday and am returning it today. I filled it up outside from our rainwater barrel and then set it on the ground - just for a minute while i shut of the faucet - and all the water spilled out! The opening where the water comes out seems to be too low and unless it's perfectly level and not moved at all - water will overflow.
