Does coronavirus affect chickens!?!?

The official CDC guidance has said for healthcare workers to avoid farm animals for several weeks. I’ll see if I can find a copy of the hospital note my best friend received as a nurse anesthetist.

in HOUSTON they just today cancelled the rodeo because someone showed a goat and tested positive yesterday. They actually are from my neighborhood and use my feed store. :-/

wash your hands everyone.
To clarify, the goat did not test positive, the handler did.

the issue with recommendations on animals is that the virus jumping from animals to humans could conceivable jump back to animals and change again.

I'm sure this has been answered as I haven't read all the posts on here, but just dropping this anyway.

The term "coronavirus" can refer to any specific type of a respiratory virus. It doesn't necessarily mean the same one currently causing the pandemic. The name for that specifically is "CORVID-19", and from what I know, animals aren't susceptible to it.

I was worried about my chickens too...good to know they aren't at risk. That being said I'm really disappointed with how the US is handling COVID-19.
Toilet paper hoarding aside, I am actually pretty impressed that everyone's quarantining themselves as much as they can, and seem to be following the CDC instructions.
I am actually hopeful that we may get ahead of it. That may change in a few days, but for now, everyone seems to be paying attention.
