We've got one too, a golden buff sex link chicken. When ever she hears me in the yard she starts singing to the high heavens and won't stop until I come give her attention.

BSL's always seem to have so much personality to me. I used to have one that would turn her beak up to almost anything I fed her. She would always give me the evil eye when I fed them treats. It was like she was saying "what is this supposed to be? Do you want me to actually EAT this?". The only treat she liked was oatmeal that was heated up and cooked. And it had to have cut up bananas in it.
Are you kidding? With Gertrude, EVERYTHING is a story! LOL

Good example: The recent addition to our little flock resulted in a shortage of roosting space in the coop. Today I took out the two existing poles and put in three longer ones at a different angle. Voila! Room for everyone with space to spare. Good right? Well...
Gertrude's nightly routine consists of being the first inside and then acting as the coop bouncer. She lets the others in as she sees fit. The 4 younger girls are always last and get the let over ledges or the straw on the coop floor. Tonight Gertrude was so discombobulated by the new roost poles that she lost it. She ran back and forth across the coop cackling and squawking at the top of her little chicken lungs. (This was shortly after 8:30 EDT, mind you.) The other hens rushed to her side and also became flustered. Meanwhile, the roo and 4 youngsters hopped inside and onto the new roost poles and got comfy.
When I left the coop a few minutes ago, only 1 of the 5 hens had roosted. More than an hour after her tirade started - Gertrude was still standing in the door of the coop cackling and fussing while 3 other hens stood around waiting for her issue orders. These are the times I'm so glad we don't have close neighbors!
<sigh> I have Daphne - good old nothing-is-right-in-her-world Daphne. She's an EE, and although she hasn't started laying yet she is awfully quick to stand on the nest box bar and scream at Ida, my only layer thus far. Daphne actually paces that bar, glaring at Ida and scolding her in no uncertain terms. When Ida comes out and sings her egg song, Daphne has to give her one or two little pecks on the head. I don't know what that's about but Ida almost acts like it's a natural part of the routine....like she'd be lost without Daphne pecking her. So the routine is, Ida in the nest, Daphne pacing the bar yelling at Ida to get out, egg laid, egg song sung, a peck on Ida's head, then all is peaceful - until one of the others is too close to where she's standing, or finds a bug she didn't spot, or whatever.....she just complains.
She stands at the door of the run in the evenings yelling at us to let them out for their free time. She pecks at one corner of the hardware cloth that seems particularly offensive to her for some reason, and we don't know what that reason is. I don't know how she can keep her eye on 19 other chickens at one time, but she manages to know where each one is and exactly what each one's doing at any given moment. You can hear her over and over again, "Nooooo no no no no nooooo". She'd just better hope that when she starts laying those eggs are large and perfectly blue to justify her arrogance!
Always in charge and seeing if she can find anything else to annoy her!
And yelling at me, as usual.
How strange it is that we'd have EE's with similar personalities who also look alike! Carabear133 has a Daphne clone, and would you look at these pictures of Gladys (gold) and Agatha? Oh, they are the bottom set of pictures in case someone thinks they're seeing double! These stories are killing me. It's so nice to laugh I have 2 easter eggers that love to complain. But I wouldn't trade them for the world. Kit loves to her self talk and she is the nosey chicken I have she always needs to know what I am doing and makes a fuss about it the whole time then there is Mae who love to loves to jumps the fence and runs around saying i am free i am free in the morning she is in the window yelling at me because I am not opening the door fast enough
