She is 17 weeks old, so sweet and so shy, she is brahama or part brahama .
Here are the pictures I took of her today. she is getting pretty red, Lorps and the top is getting redder also. What do you think? I hear Brahama hens take a long time to mature, and are very late egg layers. but in the last week her comb doubled from hardly none to this, and her waddles got big fast.

Mine were hatched mid April and started laying Oct 5th. I think you have a ways to go.

thank you, I was wondering, we found 5 eggs in the hedges, and my other girls have all been laying in the boxes, Im not sure who has decided the hedge is a good idea so I was wondering if its here, she is the only one not laying yet. the eggs were a nice dark brown, thinking this bird will lay a light brown ??

well this morning I found a very small light colored egg, and it had a white feather stuck to it. she is my only white bird, the rest are black and red and orange. could it be her???

yes it could be! My barred rock and australorp layed an egg with a paler comb than that... Unusual for a brahma to lay an egg so soon but not unheard of.

My 2 lights, hatched 3/7, started laying 2 weeks ago. I was so not expecting to get anything from them until October or so. The two buffs, same age, are still pale in the face. Where did you get your pullet?

I got this little girl ( which she is really a giant LOL ) from a local farmer who has all kinds of chickens, she gave me eggs so my buff orphington laid on them and hatched her out and a RIR . she is the sweetest and most gentle girl. sad part is she is bullied a lot.
