Does she look like wet feather?

Ducks that do not get in the water much can have less healthy feathers, from my experience. Yes it is odd to see laying and molting at the same time. I agree that if she is not shedding water, best to keep her out of it for now. I would add a little extra protein to her diet for now, maybe switch to a breeder feed for a bit to pop up the nutrient levels, see if that gives her a boost to get in some better feathering long term.

When we got Rowena she sank like a stone. A few months later, with some TLC and breeder and high quality layer feed (no corn, no soy organic), she floats like a cork.

Hi,
She just started to lay eggs this week. I've gotten an egg a day so far..I give them about 2 cups of kale a day mostly in the morning before I leave for work. I thought that if she is laying eggs then she wouldn't go through a molt? I just went and got oyster shells and put it in a separate bowl. They get apples a couple times a week from the DH.....does she need more protein than that? I am just concerned that she will get too cold at night with her looking/being so wet...
It's a juvenile molt...And yes they molt when laying eggs...Even Pullets do ...This is not a mature or hard molt.
That's when egg laying will stop...Apples are not protein..Dry cat food is good...Salmon based as she gets her feathers...Not lots but a couple of handfuls every couple of days will help....

I have a Pekin that is molting and she has that same dingy white/yellow look to her. When normally she doesn’t. Your video shows the color a lot better than my photo but I can’t do YouTube.

Any feathers around?

Thank you!!! So I am currently mixing a premium scratch in their all flock crumbles. Should I not do that? I can go get layer crumbles and cat food today. I tried to give them leftover salmon last week and they snubbed their bills at it. Hahaha!

Scratch is generally oats and corn, yes? It does provide extra calories during cold weather, but it reduces nutritional value a bit. Perhaps add in poultry vitamins with probiotics once a week if mixing in scratch feed.
