I think it’s funny when Pekins dig in the mud! Their white faces turn brown/black.

Also I was going to ask how do you know if you are buying breeder feed or not?Ducks that do not get in the water much can have less healthy feathers, from my experience. Yes it is odd to see laying and molting at the same time. I agree that if she is not shedding water, best to keep her out of it for now. I would add a little extra protein to her diet for now, maybe switch to a breeder feed for a bit to pop up the nutrient levels, see if that gives her a boost to get in some better feathering long term.
When we got Rowena she sank like a stone. A few months later, with some TLC and breeder and high quality layer feed (no corn, no soy organic), she floats like a cork.
She means layer feed...Also I was going to ask how do you know if you are buying breeder feed or not?
I have two White Call Hens...Penelope and Poppy...My Husband was discusted on day after a rain...The two of them were covered in Mud with earth and grass hanging off their Bills...Of course the others were just as dirty but it sure shows up on white Birds....I think it’s funny when Pekins dig in the mud! She is a gorgeous duck and quite a character. She is named Martha after Martha Graham because she is inclined to spontaneous leaps and flights.Thank you very much!!! Martha is beautiful!!! I just bought potatoes yesterday and plan on boiling them some. Not sure our local feed store has waterfowl feed.....I'll look into though. I am glad to see that this is something of the norm, juvenile molt!
What’s the price compared to other brands at TSC?She is a gorgeous duck and quite a character. She is named Martha after Martha Graham because she is inclined to spontaneous leaps and flights.
If you have one, Tractor Supply will order Mazuri Waterfowl Maintenance for cheeper than buying direct (and you don't pay for shipping). That feed comes very well recommended from some vet/zoo friends.
I'm hoping we can get our guys excited about potatoes. The Storey guide includes an excerpt from Carol Deppe on feeding ducks potatoes. It concludes with: "The delight of ducks for potatoes was great news for me. I can't grow broiler chow. I can grow potatoes."She also points out that potatoes can replace all the corn in the duck ration as well as provide a good bit of protein.
My wife usually picks it up. I think it's around $50 for a 50 lbs bag. What’s the price compared to other brands at TSC?

Sorry to hear you are dealing with respiratory issue! Hope you get to feeling better!!!If I didn't have a respiratory thing going on I'd show you some pics of my Muscovy's right now but believe me they look pretty ratty, they are not as water repellent as they are when their feathers are in tip top shape, They are in molt right now so I am giving them dog kibble as added protein grain free, since this is what I feed my dogs. I will give them some extra vitamins if I notice one having a bit more trouble getting through molt, Mine are 5 yrs and older.
