Can't really tell from pic. Could she be moulting? Mine looked horrible, so far two have moulted at a little over one year old. Has she quit laying eggs?

It is really hard to tell anything from the picture. What kind of chicken? How old is she? Can you be more specific about what is wrong with her feathers?

Perhaps she is just molting?

How long has she been like this? Have you checked for mites? Still think it might be moult. My leghorn looked down right skeletal for at least three weeks before feathers started coming in again. She also quit laying for a while, not at first, but then didn't lay for at least a month.

ill take a better pic in a little bit when i let them to freeroam..... but its like she only has the stems of feathers on her its really weird

Have they been wormed? I had a wheaten marans like that, and she weighed about 3 ounces at 2 months.

She was eating and drinking like crazy, but the parasite was taking it all in, leaving her like you say, "skeletal"! She died soon after I figured out what it was.

Also, check really far back under the belly and wings to see if there are any little white or brown bugs on her. Some look translucent, so are really hard to see, but if you focus, you can see what looks like a follicle, MOVING.

Good luck. Even in the fuzzy pic, she looks a little too shabby in my opinion.

looks like mites----check closely for bugs. Is her comb & skin whitish?

Sprinkle w/ poultry dust (has permethrin in it), and using gloves, rub it into where the feathers attach to the skin. Be sure to get around the vent, under the wings, neck etc., but DON'T GET IN THE EYES.

I use permethrin dust as opposed to Sevin because it has less side effects on my chooks. Always dust where they bathe, nest, etc. to prevent. If you don't like the permithrin for preventative, then use Diatamaceous Earth (food grade) around their dusting areas instead. But use the poultry dust or Seven to KILL those buggers.

thanks i will do this and then post my results.... All of the others look fine so why is there only mites on this one..... this is actually the way i got her and they said she was molting but its been 2 years and no change
