Does this make me cold hearted and evil?

Could you elaborate on this statement?? I know where we live livestock is just that, livestock and that includes poultry. Which states exclude poultry from their definition of livestock??

Many states have laws regarding keeping livestock, farm animals and poultry, defining them individually and separately. The laws can be different for livestock than they are for poultry. forgot your other portion... Oregon is one example.

I did not know that...wonder what TN laws are...i know the sherriff told me to shoot the neighbors dog if it got another chicken..didn't specify whether in the yard or not I just assumed being as my fluff butts are in my yard, but I dunno....hmmmmm. I think everyone around here classifies poultry as livestock too. I just don't know if the law does. Do you know whether Kentucky does the same Cetawin?

Couple things here.

1. My objection was not to the disposal of poultry or lack of emotion by the OP. It was the original post about chuckling/laughing at those who feel a stronger attachment to their birds.

2. If you have not read ALL the posts in this thread, please do so before posting. The OP has had many things to say regarding the original post and deserves to be heard.

That's funny because I was just typing in a PM... "They are chickens." I meant it the same way. Sure, you have your favorites and sure you love having them around... but they are chickens. You eat them and their eggs. I guess what I'm saying is... I'm with you. There has to be a line. You can love and respect your animals, but remember, they are animals. And don't get me wrong... I'm TOTALLY against animal abuse, but that is just what I'm saying. You are putting so much human emotions into a chicken that you are making it suffer because you can't put it out of it's misery. Never understood it.

Please remember there is a line between posting your opinion and flaming.

Everyone has the right to voice an opinion. Just make sure it is not inflammatory.

If something is inflammatory or against the BYC rules, please do not add to the time the thread is closed by quoting the offending post, adding your opinion, reporting it, adding to it etc.

Just report and ignore.

Thanks

Reminds me once again of a phrase I read somewhere, and I don't know who to credit for it:

"the art of disagreeing without being disagreeable".

The OP stated her opinion and has every right to do so. Some have agreed, some have disagreed. But that's one of the very best things about BYC! As long as you are polite, you can state your opinion.

And to the OP? I don't necessarily disagree or agree with you, I am on the fence. But your original post was a bit harsh and I think that's what got so many backs up.

At work now, type more when I get home. I order rabies vacines from NiteLite and do them myself.
