Does your spouse love your chickens now (that they are laying)?

My husband grudgingly built the coop, and raised an eyebrow at how many chicks I ordered. But to see him outside with the girls is great! They really like being near him. He's always talking to them and petting them. Sometimes I catch him giving them treats. Whereas if I gave the same thing to the hens, he'd say I was spoiling them.

After they all started laying and we got halfway through this winter, we talked about ordering some chicks this spring to get a wider variety of color in the egg basket (EE's and Marans). He asked for ducks. He wants to dig a pond out back now...

yes yes I fit in this category...
hubby was...ok...but gave me the look...
but I kept persuing it...
my son..20...Litterly said...I was crazy...
My mom said..."WHAT..and was like...it was this huge comitment...
this from someone...who just got a dog..I tell you which is more work...
dog or chickens...I vote chickens for less....

but now there are eggs...many eggs...and my hubby, has totally fallen for the chickens...
gives them leftover treats...loves chicken tv,,,,and my son and mom are happy to get eggs...

For me it was my wife who was not so thrilled with the idea. We started with 2 birds and now we have 5, the wife might play it off as if she doesn't care, but she is always excited when she goes out and gathers the eggs. Funny how they come around

LOL! Yup the chook instigator does tend to win over the chook dissenter ... well, lets be honest ... the chooks win them over hands down! LOL
BTW, welcome to the forums

Sounds like my Mother...she used to complain about us having too many chickens (5), now she wants more, since they're laying!

My wife wasn't crazy about it 3 years ago. We went to pick out some chicks and came back with 2 chicks and a turkey poult. Laster year we added 8 and gave away 3 laying hens. This year we are going to incubate eggs. Add some to the flock and give away a couple older hens. The whole family is into it now. We have breakfast for dinner at least one night a week.
