Hi! What wound care did he recommend? I would still do the cleaning, and cover with Vaseline.

He said I should do nothing but give trazadone, Clavamox, and clean it each day using chlorhexidine. This makes me nervous!
He said that Vaseline won't allow the wound to get air, nor will triple antibiotic ointment. He spray Vetericyn, being a spray, can get into her lungs

It seems that everything I read says to keep the wound moistened but the vet is saying it needs to be dry.
Advice? Experience?

So I disagree, I've had two chickens with bad wounds, keeping it moist so it doesn't dry out is very important.

One chicken was scalped from comb to bottom of neck, down to muscle and scalp. The other chicken had a sour injury from mating, huge flap on side, muscle exposed as well. Both healed successfully.

I also say moist is necessary.

Triple antibiotic ointment would be my choice.

Having had a severe injury to my hand I cannot imagine it ever healing without being heavily slathered in antibiotic ointment.

She's been doing well but after giving her Clavamox tonight, she drank and started doing this strange swallowing motion....extends her neck all the way, and sort of contorts it, like maybe something is stuck? Her crop is very full but it was nearly empty this morning. She is doing this swelling frequently

This morning her crop was still quite full and she was still doing it. Later this afternoon, her crop finally mostly emptied and she stopped doing it. I'm assuming she has sour crop?

She stopped with the strange swallowing. I'm really hoping her crop is down fully in the morning.
Here are pics of the wound. It somehow does t seem to bother her much so I think the pain meds are at work. Thoughts/advice working. I'm not sure how to really monitor the wound. The vet at the last visit said it was looking surprisingly better than expected but also again said its day-to-day as to if she survives.
