Not all retrievers retrieve without the right training
Yup. I'd think most snowline retrievers would have a problem retrieving. Hence why I'm apprehensive about recommending a working line retriever. That's a lot of energy for a beginner

having cats also change breed recommendation, huskies are not great around other pets unless you know what you are doingSo I am thinking Golden Retriever, Chocolate Lab, Black Lab, and Yellow Lab, also maybe a Blue Tick coon hound. But I don't think he would get along with my cat.
Hounds tend to be harder to train as far as I have heard. I see a lot of none hound breeds (GSD, border collies, labs, Belgian shepherds ) doing different types of tracking more then hound breedsBecause Hounds are better trackers, and although bird dogs are excellent trackers, and highly intelligent dogs, IMO, they don't compare to Hounds, especially if they're not from working lines. This brings me to my next point, which is energy requirements. I think a lot of Hounds have more manageable energy requirements than bird dogs
That’s still too close. Should be around 2 yearsI decided to get the other one later on. Maybe 8 months to a year later.
Yup. Very very common and not good when it happensX2 with this because it happened with two of ours.

Lab or golden would probably be your best choices depends on how well you want the dogs to be able to track. labs/goldens are good at retrieving so I think they still are the best to look into

Not hunting - after one is shot they run off and sometimes you can loose the blood trail that can lead to never finding the deer. We can't smell where the deer went but a dog can and that can led you to more blood to go off of.Did you read up on any of those breeds. Huskies are known for killing anyone smaller than they are. I'm sure there are pet bred huskies that won't kill your chickens, but also like to run. Love to run, as in SLED DOG. Labrador Retrievers come in three colors.
I suggest a Spinone Italiano. Hunting deer with dogs is illegal in many areas.
