What dog breed??

I got two poodles at the same time and I would do it again! I think raising pups together was actually far easier than a single pup.

I highly recommend poodles- mimi or standard! I have not had trouble with litter mate syndrome.

I voted for an aussie due to your initial post; they're overall friendly, energetic, and train well. That said, after reading through the thread, you don't sound like a very experienced trainer (not meaning to offend though, very few people are experienced with working breeds let alone actual dog training). I would therefore, eliminate any herding breed, let alone breeds with very strong instincts (shepherds, huskies, even potentially many hounds), unless you're willing to hire a professional trainer and do lots of research on the breed. I'd say a lab or golden would be a good starting dog. They're still working breeds, so they have energy, instincts, and very high intelligence, but they're much easier on someone who has less experience. Also, any dog you get will require pretty vigorous training: Good recall, off-leash, let alone retrieving what you want, so you may want to have a trainer on standby even with a retriever just in case things aren't going as smoothly as you'd like. Good luck with your pup!

There is a lot to dog training no matter how much you research some of it will come from experience. Labs and goldens are pretty versatile with out commonly having difficult instincts

its hard to give training advices because there is so much information. I can tell you what people you should avoid getting information from. avoid anyone who still believes in the dominance theory/being the alpha dog, doesn’t believe you should use rewards or treats at all, uses e-collars or prongs on puppies, uses e-collars or prongs on all dogs

what trainers/websites are you getting most of your information from? Do you have tiktok or instagram?

if you have any specific questions then I am happy to try and help!

No I don't use tiktok or instagram that much but will take all the training experience I can get. I want to know what I'm doing before getting the pup. I think I will go with Black Lab. Is a female or a male easier to train??

I don’t think one is necessarily easier then the other, both have their pros and cons

I would find a good lab breeder ignore colour because it really doesn’t make a difference, your breeder will make a very big difference. Once you have found a good breeder talk to them they will help you pick the best puppy, if you don’t already have a preference on male or female I would just pick the best puppy

kikopup on YouTube has some good information
There are a few people I follow on tiktok that have good/ interesting training videos (canine consilience, tara moriarty, tils and lottie)
