Dog Got Chicken. NEED HELP ASAP!!!

Many use a piece of wood with 2 nails on each side of the neck to hold the chicken in place if using an ax or sharp knife.

I use the method in this video by Modern Prepper where there are shoelaces tied around the ankles and the chicken is suspended from a tree, and the jugular is severed:

So sorry to have been out when this happened.
I’m so very sorry for your experience and agree that it seems euthanasia seems to be in the best interest of this poor bird.

The tear along the side of the breast would not be hard to stitch, but massive damage to the crop does make it less likely that the bird would survive.

I’m having a hard time with the photos but can certainly make out that the frontal damage is extensive.

If you have at least a full can of car starter fluid (ether) you may be able to “put her to sleep” in a small plastic tote or styrofoam cooler.
It’s primarily used on chicks but can be done on a full size bird.
Here’s a link on that method.

Wrap the hen in a towel to prevent flapping. Hold her between your knees (while your sitting in a chair). Slowly stretch her neck out. Let her relax. Cut from left to right. Have a bucket behind your legs. When done drop her in the bucket till death spasms stop. Sorry for your situation.
