Dog Got Chicken. NEED HELP ASAP!!!

First thing I'd do is isolate her and get those wounds cleaned up - infection is going to be your biggest issue with a dog bite. We really need better pics with the feathers moved so good idea to do while you are cleaning. She isn't going to like you messing with her - I'd wrap her with a towel over her back and wings then crossed under where you need to be working. Have you got a 2nd person to help you get her cleaned up so you can do a really good assesment of what is going on?

I would end up filling her with water. It's hard to wash internal organs.... :(

Oh sorry I'd obviously missed that point and as I say very hard to see. Even more important to get her out from the others and somewhere clean so you can get a really good look at her. Hopefully the experienced peeps will be a long shortly but they'll really need better pics to help - sorry you must be so stressed :hugs:hugsand upset for your girl.

It looks like the dog went right for the crop area, so it may be torn open. Is a vet an option for you? Is he alert, walking, and breathing okay? Vetericyn, Theracyn, or other wound sprays are good to use, and plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment is good to use on wounds. Initially, I like to use some betadine or Hibiclens with water, and a kitchen sprayer faucet to wash wounds.

No problem! Yes, she is in a dog cage now with hay, although I should probably change out the bedding. Thanks for the advice! I can't believe I was stupid and lazy enough to not secure the fence better!!!!!! Especially after learning this lesson with two others that ended up dying. :he:he:he:rantI guess I DIDN'T learn my lesson... I'm kicking myself right now... :he:he:he:barnie
