Dog Kennel Coops

Here is our dog run/chicken coop. We didn't trust chicken wire, so we used 1/2inch hardware cloth both top and bottom (burried 18")...we even tested it with our neighbors chicken-killing Jack Russell Terriers (chickens were in a dog crate inside - just in case). Not one breech of security with a 30 minute assault!

On the top and bottom, I used hardware cloth and ran it across the top and bottom on the inside of the run so that the door could only open out. Anything trying to push in can't get pass the hardware cloth.

On the side where the latch snaps down, I attached the hardware cloth to the main frame pole and the door frame pole and made it bow out so that the door presses into it making it really snug. I ran a wire tie between the 2 posts to keep the wire from slipping around.

I use dog kennels for coops too

They work great! they are a little expensive tho

The kennel panels are costly, but worth it. Nice setup.

we also have a kennel as a run. We got the run for free off craigs list and set it up next to the chicken coop. Right now I have my silkie and bantams in there till I can get their coop secured better. Then the bigger chicks and roos and get back to their coop.

Hoping to start building new coops next week.

I like my dog kennel pens! They are clean and neat looking and last along time.. Easy to stretch the netting over the tops and attach with zip ties. Even shade cloth is easy to put on...

I bought mine on sale at Tractor Supply. I am now watching their sale fliers for a couple more to put up around my turkey barn.. Notice these have a brace bar across the middles as well. Keeps panels from sagging or twisting.

Yeah that is me being a real farmer! My husband bought me the tractor for a anniversary gift 3 years ago.. Great for cleaning barns and hauling feed and supplies.
