dog kennel run

I use the dog kennels. In fact I have 3 put together. We used some of that wavy roof covering and hardware cloth on the top. My girls love it and enjoy dust bathing in the dirt.

What we did....

I have a chainlink run as well. A couple things I have discovered.
Check the bottom of your chainlink. Chickens have an uncanny ability to wiggle out under the fence with the smallest gap.
Also where the fence meets up to walls etc.
And most importantly those gates that have rounded corner, and the fence/frame is not rounded. Just a couple weeks ago I found a possum laying down on it's back and wiggling through that open corner to prey on the pellets.

Oh, Georgiagail, so beautiful! Tell me, what is that clear plastic roofing that you used called? That is what I would like to use to put a roof on our run! It would help if I knew what I was looking for!!!

I use one, it was built in, (for dogs) all the posts were sunk in concrete. I tried using a flat roof, but it is next to a magnolia tree and the leaves fell and reall cut down on air flow, so I made an A frame roof using PVC pipe, I'll try to get a picture. I love it.
I did have to build the whole coop inside it, the door was only 2 ft wide, so the coop is not what you would call a work of art, but it works. (my sister said Hatian refugees would be jelous)

Yes we do. use it for the tweens as a outside run. We fastened deer netting about 24 inches up the sides and over the top and that keeps them from slipping thru the chain link and the panel gaps. Works wonderfully but not coonproof if that's a issue in your area.

All my chickens areas are the chain link dog kennels. i love the security they provide, since they are a lot stronger than chicken wire. They are easy to put up and you can keep adding on as you buy a new panels. And best......no fence posts to drive. I put a tarp over part of the top, sort of like a tent, to keep the rain and snow out and give them shady areas. The rest of the area I have snow fence across the top to keep them in and birds of prey out.

Yes; Lowes has the Tuftex Polycarbonate in 8 and 12 feet lengths. We used the 8 foot lengths. They are 26 inches wide. We attached them by using roofing nails that included neoprene washers for a sealed fit.

Around here the 8 foot lengths run a bit over $20 a piece.
