Dog story w/ pic, HAPPY ENDING! and update

That's what I was thinking, but there is some shepard there as well to judge from the coat and ears. He's a mutt, but I think it's a selling point for this boy!

KellyGwen, I wish you were closer, too. I can't say how he'd be around cats & chickens, but so far he's a perfect dog. Jumps on me a bit much, but responding well to a lifted knee already. So smart he'd be a breeze to train.

That is a good looking dog. Looks very similar to my chow mix Maddie except my dog has long hair. Personally, even though all odds are pointing to him being abandoned, I would take him into the vet/shelter just to see if he is chipped. He sounds like he is well behaved, somebody must have loved him at some point and might be missing him right now.

edited for spelling

I'm not sure where in TN Sevier County is but I forwarded his picture to a friend in TN on the chance that you aren't too far away. Maybe she can come up with someone. Good luck, he looks very sweet.

.... spots on tongue? A friend had a chow mix that looked very very much like him, down to the short hair. She was a wonderful dog.

what a darling dog. thank god for you saving him. i'm the same way, i save what i find. i have a cat, who's been here since November who DH said no way, no how, not another cat, he ain't staying. but he was dumped and was injured and i saved him. and he's here now.

If I have to go with Plan B tonight, I will try to take him by our vets office to be scanned tomorrow. But I don't think they'll find anything.

I agree with the poster who thought he dumped in the road and was patiently awaiting being picked back up. In 24 hours of sightings he's always been within eyesight of the spot I picked him up from.

And when I say he's skin and bones I mean seriously skin and bones. He's been hungry for a while before being abandoned/ lost. His pads are clear and his nails long, so he's not been out running. His ears are clean, too, inside.

I'll try the Petfinder link and see if there's anything helpful in our area....

My dog is a chow mix and has a spotted tongue also. It sounds like he has some chow in him. Cute looking dog. I wish I lived closer! Good luck finding him a home and yes, a shelter is better than the road. Young dogs like that usually go to new homes very quickly in shelters.

DH just re-sent the e-mail saying
"All I can say is...don't bring it home......."

Nobodies ate the rest of the beef jerky and hard rolls from my breakfast/lunch, and we shared all the pretzels (big sourdough kind). I have a bag of micro popcorn in my desk drawer. Guess we're going to share that, too.
Kinda over-doing it on the salt for the little guy today, but the dog upstairs doesn't have food at work any more. Just pigs ears for treats and they're out of those.

I think hubby will take one look at him and fall in love with him.....hopefully! He's a gorgeous little guy, I'd love to have him myself, but you're so far away.....

Nope. DH is made of firmer stuff than that.
And I'm not willing to trade my cats (2) or chickens (13) in for a dog.
And even if I were he'd still be mad about it.
No fenced-in yard, either.

I wish EVERYONE here lived closer. Especially right now!!!!!!
