Dog thread!🐾

Ill do dogs 20lbs and above just not under 20lbs. Sammy is adorable by the way!
The assistant trainer at Tuckers puppy class has 3 Shelties, she brought one to the class and she was adorable, she says that she is so fast that someone else runs her in agility
Sammy runs like greased lightning when he gets the zoomies. When we first got him I would take him out on a 15-foot long line and I would just stand in one spot and he would zoom around me while I held onto the line and let him run circles around me! Sometimes I thought he would just take off and get airborne... 😄

Well we were camping there was a ton of dogs that showed up on Friday. I was lucky to meet a few of them! There were Golden Retrievers, labs, bully breeds.
Then the dogs that really caught my eye a almost all white saint benard and he had to weigh atleast 200lbs he was huge(i didnt to meet him as the owners werent outside at the time.)
Then there was a dog that looked kinda like a Akita but with super long fur i cant think of the name of the breed.
And finally a Great Dane that weighed over 185lbs and kinda looked like thisView attachment 3587693
Ah, a Harlequin, blue I guess?

I guess the Komodor is kinda neat looking, but I'd worry with that fur, they'd either need lots of hair cuts or would be too hot in the summers
Not hair cuts. Brushing/ combing. They need to have the thick, woolly undercoat that keeps them warm and dry in winter brushed out, leaving the long overcoat, or guard hairs, as insulation and shade from the sun in the summer.

What do bisons have to do with anything? Labradors and Goldens don't fit into my household. I'm willing to bet their energy requirements are too much for other people to. Suggesting that hunting breeds such as the ones you mentioned fit into every household is dangerous, and leads to many dogs being dumped. Mentors are good to have with any breed
Bet they meant Bichon, not bison (although a buffalo in the backyard could be an amazing conversation piece!) 🤣

I had a dog. But my father stole him away after he broke free a few times. I rescued him from some public tennis courts. He was laying there, and had been shot with a fragmenting round. Well... vet got him all better, except for shrapnel near his heart which she dared not operate on. But he was so protective, and had been trained, by whoever previous owner was, never to enter the kitchen. And so he didn't. Im not sure if I can ever have another dog after him. He was soo good for me. And I miss him with all my life.

Although I want a sporting or herding breed next.
Herding dogs are a lot of work. Rewarding, but they're time consuming for probably the first five years. After that they settle into routine better and gain some patience.
Sporting breeds are great. Teach them the basics and throw the ball a bunch!
Aussies like a lot of ball throwing too!
Very important to socialize Aussies so that they can learn that most dogs aren't predators.

🤣
Definitely!
Better get your Cattle Dog out, 'cuz nothing else is gonna cut it!
