Dog thread!🐾

Anyone else have a dog that refuses to learn 'speak'? Our dog loves to bark, but as soon as we try telling her to speak, she goes silent, even when we're using her favorite treats.
What method are you using to teach it? It took Twiggy a while before she started undstanding it. I want to teach Fanta but she rarely barks 😆

When we taught our other dogs, we would hold up the treat and say speak, and give it to them when they barked after the command. It seemed to just sorta make sense to them that speak equaled 'bark once'. For her though, it seems to mean 'don't make a freaking sound'. We even started trying to train her back when we had our old girl too, so she could watch, and it didn't work then either

thats weird to me that it worked😆 I don’t know why they would bark with no previous training, unless they normally bark when you hold up a treat:idunno. I taught Twiggy by saying bark when she was all ready barking and then rewarding her

Try and reward when it's done at random. They catch on pretty quick. Then, the hard part is to also make them shut up🤣

You might wanna try rewarding when she’s already barking. Say the command and then give the treat when she does it.
