I think the term "AKC dog" has been twisted to something completely different. Akc registration alone does not prove a dog is sound, or that it's breeder is an ethical one

I don't think herding has a lot to do with this. No LGD breeds that come to mind also herd their stock

Oh, I see. I totally agree. Temperament should be equally, if not exceedingly important as the structural soundness

My point in making sure I list the registry is that people see that it's not worth paying for these registered dogs when they are available for nothing all over the midwest

The only reason why I want a dog registered is so I know who the parents are, the high price is because of temperament, health, time and work that has gone into their dogs. I would not expect to find the temperament and health I want from a dog dumped at an auction

Exactly!!! And purebred does NOT mean well bred.

If you can find me a dog from health tested, known parents and/or champion pedigrees, etc. at an auction, I’d take it but I doubt it. They’re probably dumped from puppy mills
