Dog thread!🐾

Maybe...I got tall ones with more straps thinking they'd stay on better, but nope! I also got boot suspenders and they still come off!
some brands stay on better then others but they all do have tendency to fall of from what I have heard. I have seen some people use vet wrap to help keep the boot on

there are boots that don’t have the rubber sole like most have, I am wondering if they might stay on better

Fanta has boots too, they where very useful to have them when she cut her pad

I keep hearing about boots are great! you should use them! But not many people talk about when you shouldn’t use them. I saw a video by someone who has a search and rescue dog and they talked about why SAR dogs don’t use boots most of the time. What they said made a lot of sense and isn’t discussed in the ad/sd community even though they push using boots a lot

reasons not to use boots
-dogs sweat from their pads, its one of their main whys to cool down
-will give them worse grip on most surfaces
-will change their gait slightly, which can cause issues after long term use

I can’t remember exactly what the issues where but the cooling one I think is very important to know, since most of the time people recommend boots for hot pavement
I have seen boots that have a mesh feature that allows the sweat to be released.
I only leave the boots on for walks when its super snowy outside and when there is a lot of salt on the ground. When its to hot i usally dont let them walk on pavement
