Oh here we go. My sister is terrible about sending me pics, so I just stole some of her FB page.

Was it matted?
If it is very matted then it is a good reason! Trying to remove very solid mats specially if there are a lot of them by not cutting the hair would take ages, be all most impossible and wouldn’t be very nice for the dog. Double coats do grow back (maybe not as great as before) so its much kinder for the dog just to trim itProbably, to an extent. But it's no reason to shave a double-coated dog

I agree with you, I wouldn’t shave one unless there coat comes off like a sheep fleece! Your previous post sounded like you didn’t know how matted it was and wouldn’t shave it no matter how mattedThat's the thing, the dog was not overly matted. A few mates here and there are to be expected, especially for an outside dog, but definitely not to the point they needed shaving off. They surely weren't big enough to be visible on screen. Besides, I wouldn't exactly call shaving a working outside dogs coat, whose whole purpose is to help them regulate their body temperature, in the middle of a heat wave kind. The owner also did it to their short coated dog, which would've definitely not been matted

. They did it to "help them cool off in the heat, and help the coat grow back stronger"
