Crazy last two days. I’m taking care of my sister’s dog while she’s out of town and not 24 hours after she leaves, Evie (her Standard poodle) comes down with bloat. The thing with Standards though is that they hide it SO well and her only visible symptoms were a tucked tail and some restless pacing. She didn’t even look physically bloated. I felt silly worrying at all because of how minimal her symptoms were, but I called my mom anyway (who is a born fear mongerer) and she insisted we rush to the EV. Sure enough Evie’s stomach was already completely twisted and they took her into surgery immediately. Still not sure what caused it, she hadn’t even been active yet that day, but I’m certainly glad we got her in so quickly. The only damage she had was some minor bruising on the stomach. I saw her today and the bruising on her incision though is a different story. Never seen anything like it- looks like she’s been in a train reck. And the way the swelling was so distended made it seem as if her abdomen were full of blood. Her vitals were fine though and she’s eating well and walking around so she should be good to come home tomorrow. I’m just shocked really by how it looks- I know they usually don’t look nearly this bad.

She’s home today and doing pretty well. The swelling did go way down but the bruising is still incredibly severe. Surgeon said in his thirty years of doing these surgeries he’s never seen anything like it. Not a very encouraging thing to hear but at least she seems to be healing well and staying perky.

Lmaoooooo my brother once ate a green dog cookie to try it too. No clue what it was. Probably a Milkbone or similar too. IDK if they make them green but yeah.

Believe it or not, THAT is exactly why pet food in the US has to conform to human safety standards. Kids & babies eat it!

The coconut mango are his favorite things EVER! Especially the small size. We haven’t even tried the other flavors yet hahaha we got some of the mango ones for free a little while ago but the bag got thrown away so I had no idea what brand. I had to Google relentlessly until I found a match based on how the treats looked and what flavor it was. I found some similar but not quite the same (paw print sunken in instead of sticking out or different flavor etc.) BUT!!!!! Then I finally found them after not very long!!!!! Cause thankfully there are not very many mango treats. LOL but yeah!!!! Anyways, I immediately ordered them of course (being his favs) BUT! I ordered the wrong size! He is a large breed so that’s what I ordered but these are like Great Dane size I swear should say giant breed LOL but they’re still edible but yeah. So anyway, went right back on and ordered the SMALL size and… PERFECT MATCH!!!!! Bingo!!!!! Found them!!!! Which I’m glad cause if he doesn’t get his treat… watch out LMAO anyway, while I was ordering the small size, I also decided to just order every single other flavor they had (minus the large breed honey LOL) sooooo yeah…… that’s how I ended up with 5 bags of treats… he’s not spoiled at all.
