Dog thread!🐾

I know, hope I didn't come off as defensive😅! I wrote it in more of a joking way if anything. But yes, back then we had no idea what an ethical breeder was. I guess they are, the coolest thing they did is having a breeder from Switzerland I believe, bring their dogs out for us to see the different lines
Ah okay and oh wow that’s cool!!!

:barnie I was talking to somebody who was looking for people to test a new assistance dog harness design, I would get it at a discount not free so of course I am asking questions. not that many I have asked about 3 questions then suddenly they say all the spaces have been filled. Does anybody else have a issue with this? I had no opportunity to say I wanted it, just a sudden nope no more spaces
Issue with what? Harnesses or Web user interfaces? Not sure what company you're talking about. I'm very particular about my training equipment. I doubt I'd try a harness unless I know everything about it so good for you for asking questions. In general I'd only use harnesses for cart pulling.

You all make sure there's plenty to catch up on in this thread .

A couple comments on breeders/doodles.
Just because someone is breeding purebreds does not mean they're ethical. My breed, Tenterfield terriers, has big problem in that a lot of breeders refuse to acknowledge that their lines carry/have Legg Perthes. Read any breed profile on this breed and I doubt there will be a single mention of Legg Perthes.

One of my problem with the doodles is that people are paying sometimes 2-3x the amount of a purebred. If you really want a crossbreed why not get a rescue that'll cost you not even a quarter of that?

There's actually an "Association" here in Aus where you can become a "registered breeder"... of crossbreeds.
The website makes a point of saying how they promote health over a pedigree, yet the ad that I found this place by was for Pug x Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies (or similar, was a while ago). To me that is not a mix that'll prove very healthy?

A pug x Cavalier king charles spaniel. What.....
Although i see somebody selling basset hound GSD crosses right now wt

There is a rottweiler (well he is more than likey a mix) on the loose here in our town. He is to scared to approach me and definitely doesnt like other dogs. This is the second time ive seen him out, no collar on. I saw him on a when i was on a walk with Tucker, then he was in our yard about 1 hour ago. I slowly got down and tried to call him to me, but he looked at me with the saddest puppy eyes and then ran off. And they just moved into the town....

Mostly because they'll use dogs from BYBs. BYBs have turned my breed (and pugs) into such bad examples, I can't even tell you how mad I am about it. Though a pug×Cavalier is essentially creating a King Charles...which is so dumb because the King Charles are relatively untouched by BYBs and pretty healthy
I love Cavalier! Why do people have to mess with the good breeds without a purpose. Why mix it with a pug... its sad, they are asking for problems with the puppies.

This is very surprising to me. King Charles seem to be a very popular choice for byb/crossbreeding here (the popularity of cavoodles is stupid). I have family members with King Charles, one had to euthanize her's because her health declined rapidly despite being on multiply medications. She was about 8 years old, I think.

Granted, I don't know how popular they are in Australia. But in the US and Europe, they're pretty unknown. Cavaliers are very popular, and have been excessively bred by BYBs to the point of making them so unhealthy they got "banned" in Norway. But King Charles Spaniels, aka English Toy Spaniels have remained untouched

I think they are confusing them with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Very different from King Charles Spaniels.
