Dog thread!🐾

I was so excited to stumble across this dog thread! We are potentially getting our very first family dog, she's a Spanador(cocker spaniel/Labrador cross) and I'm wondering specifically how to train her with the chicks/chickens. Any free online puppy training recommendations would be great too if anyone knows of any, thanks so much!

Sorry, I've fallen behind. (And my sister never sent me the video of them 🙄😂 It's okay, she's busy.) Yeah, as far as we know they were abandoned. They live pretty far back off a dirt road and the puppies were all the way up by the house. They could have run up that way, but in all likelihood the were dumped, whether on that property or dumped and they just ended up walking there.

But I do have a little more info. I said one friend took a boy, but I didn't know what the other friend took. They took a girl, who was the skinniest. They have several animal-loving kids, so I'm sure she'll get fattened up quick. 😁 There's one boy and two girls left. Our neighbor actually has a set-up they sometimes use for stray puppies, so in a few days they'll move from my sister's makeshift pen to my neighbors pen. When they move I promise I'll get pics of them.
Aww, its so sad.

Me too. I really want a red English cocker. :drool
My aunt rescued a english cocker spainel. His name was Brody. He was tempermental at times. Then he went blind at around 8 or 9 years of age. She was moving and having her second kid and she knew that it wouldnt go well. She gave him to a close friend and she visited a lot. He sadly passed away a year after going there.
She has a 10 year old yorkie right now that was abandoned. The owners never came back after dropping him off at the place she worked. Trooper and Brody were best of friends. And you could tell they both were hurting once tooken away from each other. Trooper went blind in one eye and seems to just be loosing weight. Although he did undergo a surgery because his heart shifted and he had air bubbles.

I personally like watching YouTube videos. I cant remember the guys name. But since taking Tucker to a training class i will always use those techniques.
Teach a gentle command and from a early point having chicks around her. Denver is my first dog she wont hurt a fly litterally. I can have her with the chickens and ducks but she wont harm them. Tucker on the other hand has a high prey drive, he will kill them if i let him. He never experienced chicks but he did ducks in the house. But now even outside he will try and chase them from the outside of their house.

Aww... That's sad. So you are keeping her, though, right?!

Oh goodness. Our 3-year-old Dobie does that. He's still technically got another year left before maturity. At least spaniels mature a whole lot faster. Hopefully she'll grow out of it.

Aw, but the grooming is one of the best parts! 😂 I personally love it. Like, to the point that I'm addicted to a dog groomer's YouTube channel and keep experimenting on our dogs... maybe I should become a groomer. 🤔😆
That’s awesome!!! You should hahah

kikopup on YouTube is quite good and McCann dog training also has some good information

If any trainer uses aversive methods then be careful and do a lot of research before trusting them, it’s extremely easy to abuse dogs with those method. I personally would only recommend reward based training
