Dog thread!🐾

That’s smart!
He brought her to work a few times when he had to do something real quick on his days off and I'd hang out with her out on the sidewalk when it was slow.
Or just stay away from areas that people frequent with their dogs.
You cannot blame others for your dog's lack of socialization.
What on earth made you think that I could stay away from my college campus when I was in class?
What on earth made you think I'm bringing my dog to places that have lots of other dogs? I know better than that, but even walking down a section of my road, way out of town limits, I have come across dogs just running around because people think that being in the country means that dogs can just run around freely

My dog has had socialization, thank you very much. And she has been attacked by dogs that were unleashed, which has made her afraid of strange dogs running up to her.

No they’re not. They renamed them miniature American shepherd. Basically mini Aussie but I think they added a few things.
The frustrating thing about their particularities is nobody seems to be forthright about them.
Oh well! šŸ˜„
Additionally, the physical attributes of that 'breed, seen to be all over the place.
When somebody tells me "I have a dog like that, but it's a miniature" I just say, Nice, wonderful dogs, aren't they"

I don't get why people hate Doodles just because they're not an official breed. I have a doodle, and she's the sweetest girl. Who cares that she's not "official". She's still a dog.

Didn't know that you had to bring your dog to class.
Does everyone bring their dog to class?
My wife used to bring her dog to class, but it didn't react in a hostile fashion toward other dogs.
What breed is your dog?
I don't!!!!!

People walk their dogs on our campus because it is one of the few green places in the city.

But that does not mean that I am happy to have random dogs running up to me.

I couldn't care less if you say your dog is friendly. I'm uncomfortable if it is not on a leash if I'm walking to my next building and trying to get to class on time or comes barreling out of the grass on the side of my road

She is a rez dog, so a mutt, likely with some heeler in her

I don't think it's so much the "breed" people hate, as it is the breeders and the reasons why they breed them.

Beautiful dog!
Lots of Doodles are really nutty, but maybe that's because they don't have a sanctioning body?
I love all dogs, even the ones on leashes whose owners scream an take them 'over threshold' when my dog prances by with a smile on his face!

Punish the owners, not the breed!
(I get so sick of that, "Punish the deed, not the breed!")
Unfortunately, the American Staffordshire Terrier is the latest 'macho' breed. My redneck neighbor has one and thinks it's funny when it grows at my dog. My dog doesn't react to it because he's well trained. She's lucky that way.
Terriers have some really good attributes, unfortunately, many are not being trained properly.

Genes are not really something an owner can change. For example, a sighthound will go after prey. An Irish terrier will sparr with another Irish terrier. Those things are innate. Where the owner comes in is proper management. Of course, the owner should do research beforehand and figure out what breed fits their lifestyle. But again, the owners responsibility is to properly manage their dog. Of course, behavior as the one you stated above are not acceptable. People who get dogs just for a certain esthetic usually end up dumping their dogs, or ruining them

We don't hate the dogs. There's no reason to hate the dog. We don't like the breeders who breed them
