Dog thread!🐾

I'm uncomfortable if it is not on a leash if I'm walking to my next building and trying to get to class on time or comes barreling out of the grass on the side of my road

She is a rez dog, so a mutt, likely with some heeler in her
Your dog is sensing your discomfort and acting according.

Why are you so uncomfortable around dogs?
I've been bitten several times before, but I know that it was a particular dog, not a characteristic of all dogs.
A well adjusted dog can read other dogs with no problem.

And a terrier isn't a viscious dog by breed.
Shepards will guard property, whereas a terrier usually won't.

I don't know exactly where you got that off my post, but ok? Most terriers weren't bred to be guard dogs, so why would they be good at guarding? As for shepherds, it depends on breed and line way more

LOOK. I HAVE GIVEN MY REASONS AND IT IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE. I'm done defending my reasons to you if you're just going to keep trying to say I'm in the wrong for not liking your dog in my personal space.

I have seen the damage that dogs can do and have been on the wrong side a couple times as a small child.

I have no doubt that most pet dogs are sweet and loving animals. But when a strange dog suddenly is running towards me and the owner is not able to grab it if needed because they're several feet away and have no hold of the dog, I don't know if this dog is friendly.

How is this any different to a random person you don't know suddenly charging full on in your direction?

Most of the Terriers I know are quite territorial... whether that means they "guard" I don't know. They definitely don't like sharing their stuff... or people.

I'd just call it terriers being terriers. They're not the type of dog you can throw with a bunch of other dogs and expect it to work

Absolutely!
I have two myself and then my family has four others. Keeping track of the dynamics is insanity! :th
My eldest dog is actually incredibly anxious/reactive/over protective (of mostly me, but also other things), so managing her is particularly hard 😕.
At my work it's actually ok for me to bring my dogs if I want, quite a few of my colleagues do and the dogs just go in the backyard. But I don't trust my crazy terriers to not try and boss around the cattle dogs or something 😅

Are they an AKC breed?

The ASCA doesn't recognize Miniature Aussies as a breed.

What are you supposed to do if you have miniature sheep?😁
As far as I know no kennel club accepts doodles

though there are people who are apparently breeding to a standard (I personally don’t think they are) the very large majority of doodles are f1 crosses. There is very little consistency between doodles not to mention there are all ways new poodle crosses appearing

I don’t know much about miniature Aussies but I don’t think they are similar to whats going on with doodles

if people want to make a doodle a breed they will probably need to use a name that doesn’t include doodle, it would be very difficult to differentiate between all the poodle mutts and a breed in development thats called a doodle

Because I absolutely despise when a strange dog comes up to me and is not controlled. I don't care how well trained the dog is, I do not want an unrestrained dog in me or my dog's space because my dog does not do well with other dogs being so close to her.

I'm sure most dog's are typically fine and trained properly, but I do not want to risk my safety or my dog's because someone else was walking their dog and it was off a leash.

Typically it's on campus property, which doesn't have signs to leash your dog, but it's a decently crowded place during passing periods.

I stay far away from dog sports, so I have no clue about those ideals and rules. I just know where I've gone has resulted in me suddenly having unrestrained dogs run over to me and I am not a fan of strange dogs
most dogs aren't trained properly🙁, dogs definitely should not be going up to you, to me that equals untrained. People need to be more responsible for their dogs I have had many people move towards me or allow their on leash dog to go up to Fanta! Thankfully I am normally with someone who can step in the way

Sounds like you need to hire a professional trainer for your intolerant dog, before it causes a problem.
Or just stay away from areas that people frequent with their dogs.
You cannot blame others for your dog's lack of socialization.
my dog is a assistance dog in training whether she is vested or not she is working to some extent. Even if the dog is friendly that greeting can undo months of training and most owners can’t tell there dog is aggressive, one bite or bad experience could make her need to retire you

untrained dogs like that can put people in danger. Just because I am in public does not mean I want to be harassed by other peoples animals

I don't get why people hate Doodles just because they're not an official breed. I have a doodle, and she's the sweetest girl. Who cares that she's not "official". She's still a dog.

Rant over. :D
nothing wrong with the dog, a lot wrong with the breeders :hmm and some of the owners 😆 definitely not all!

how is she doing? Did you manage to get her trimmed?
I don't think it's so much the "breed" people hate, as it is the breeders and the reasons why they breed them.

there also is nothing wrong with liking mixed breeds and crosses, I have a cross breed and she is a amazing dog! she is my favourite dog I have ever had (which isn’t many dogs 😆). but they still aren’t a breed

if you do really like poodle mixes you can get them from a ethical rescue or find a genuine accident litter. You do have to be quite careful with accident litters a lot of them are’t actually a accident
