Dog thread!🐾

It's unfortunate. People think they're doing the puppies a favour, and in a way they are, but it empowers the bad breeders to make more and more puppies. It has to stop.

There's no easy answer to this, short of confiscating the animals and putting the breeders out of business. But who says they aren't going to turn around and get more dogs? There are no home inspections that I know of after you've been ordered not to have any more animals...
At least they can’t sell animals if they have been banned. puppy mills/BYB are a bit different to somebody just abusing their own animals, since if no one buys the puppies its not profitable for them to have them which is why they are doing it

Why not, though? Like I asked, do they have home inspections? And if someone can get $1000 per puppy, damn sure they're going to continue, even if it's hidden in the basement or a barn or out in the woods. :(

I think they do every so often but I’m not sure. I’m pretty sure it would be court ordered though.

Sadly they can still try which is why it’s important to educate people so they don’t buy from these people, like I said before if they can’t sell puppies then they can’t have a business selling puppies

inspections can happen, unfortunately most BYBs aren’t bad enough to actually get banned from owning animals

Same issue with unethical breeders of any animal. How many people have announced that they're saving fish from the petstore?

I think if you report they have pets, they'll schedule an inspection, but I really don't know if that's true or a common thing

From what I remember on the old animal cop shows as well as that hoarding show, I think they would sometimes have random inspections where they just show up so they can’t clean up beforehand and hide stuff.
