Dog thread!🐾

I know how much training high energy dogs need. I have a field golden. Our lab x aussie is more aussie than anything i could handle him even when i was younger. Ive met a few aussies. Helped out a friend with a aussie mix. Of course im not just going to jump and get one though
Lab x Aussie sounds like a handful.

Aussie are great as long you understand they can be pushy dominant dogs. They are bred to move sheep, and cattle and mostly think for themselves. So lots of forward behaviors, and sometimes questioning if you really know what you are talking about.

They can also become protective as the mature. Breed standard says they should be wary of strangers. They are great dogs. I think people get in trouble when they try to baby them. They need structure, and a purpose. Exercise needs seems to vary by breeding.

I'm still debating another one. They can take a few years to raise. Pepper is 4 years old now and her goofy is starting to come out, especially now that she's the only Aussie. Her bossy also is coming out, so it's definitely something I gotta keep in check by making he sit and wait.

That's been experiences with the breed. I'm on number 4. Do I need a number 5, or do I take the easy way out?

I probably would never get a aussie unless i had land and animals. So they could still run and do as they were bred to.
The more structure the better. People who baby their dogs and the dogs never learn what not to fo is the reason a lot of them misbehave. Positive corrections help a lot.
