Dog thread!🐾

I agree with Pampered Chicken Girl that prongs arent necessary in this situation. And arent like a mother dog.
Teaching leash pressure does a lot more. Tucker gets super exicted in the morning but knows if he pulls to quickly go back into a heel when outside. Its helped with many behavior problems that have arised.

I don't dislike prong collars themselves honestly I just think of them more as a last resort after trying regular collars, slips etc. I use a slip regularly on my dog and sometimes the dogs I walk if necessary and I've found normally that's enough, if the normal collar doesn’t work first
I understand! But keep in mind that prongs take less pressure because of the distribution. So you might have to tug the leash twice as hard with a slip because all of the pressure is one the centered on one spot (usually the trachea, which could cause damage) the prong distributes the pressure evenly around the whole neck.

But the prong also sticks into the dogs neck, if you teach leash pressure and use the slip properly you won't need to pull that hard and definitely not hard enough to cause damage

A slip is also what I use for my dog. Walks or going to the park. But I would use a prong if he needed it. But even if he didn’t need it I still don’t have a problem with it, because if he didn’t need it then he would never feel pressure with it. And I know that a prong isn’t the right fit for every dog. I wouldn’t use it on a very fearful dog.

Does anyone have a trick for ear mites? I’m loosing my mind. It’s been months and nothing I’m doing is helping. I’ve gotten prescriptions from the vet for my dog and cats, but they aren’t doing anything. It’s so frustrating and I feel awful. My dog doesn’t seem like they bother him, but the cats act like they are miserable.
