True to some extent. You really can't train prey drive out of a dog but you can manage it and that is strictly up to the owners.

I and others with working knowledge of hunting dogs can. You are a pet owner and should learn your limits.

They have come looking now while we are trying to get him back up the road and animal control would be 30 minutes till then It’s not the dogs fault... he’s being a dog. We can let them free range when the goats are outing fenced area but that’s not as often. The goats hate dogs and at 140 lbs a piece they don’t mess around.
After the first incident my husband had a long talk but ... no different. Working on the fence. Since the dog walks down the dirt rd the whole thing needs to be done. It will take a LOOONG time. Want to do it but just want things back like they were. These people don’t even live on our dirt rd!

I agree that talking to people like that will get you nowhere. They obviously do not know how to care for an animal, otherwise they would not let it roam unattended, especially since their other dog got killed. Next time you see him roaming around, just call Animal Control so that it does not get injured. I think you are only allowed so many times to have your dog loose before they do you not give it back to you.They obviously do not have respect for anybody else’s property either, otherwise your chicken would not have ended up dead!

These people have been a headache for years. The dog has actually returned twice since I last posted and had someone drive to our house from a Nother dirt road that is off of the paved road to see if it was our dog because they’ve seen it running along the paved road and we have a white dog. It wasn’t our dog because we have trained our dogs to stay in the property line and they are not ever outside without us out there or without us checking on them every 5 to 10 minutes. Even when they’re chasing a squirrel They don’t leave the property. It took lots of time and effort to train them but that’s what we do when we have dogs. And the fact that this is a continuous thing is the terrible part
