Dog with Diahrrea, some puking. (Back from Vet)

yes it is distemper/parvo

Okay thanks!... they had distemper last year sometime.. I'm sure they're due soon then. Thanks!

Virus type vaccines such as Parvo and Distemper are not needed after the puppy series is finished. For over 15 years, my dogs get NO vaccines after they finish their puppy series except Rabies. I travel and compete with my dogs all over the place. Please do some research on vaccines to find out why serial vaccination of dogs is not advised.

With regard to the OP: I would also suspect pancreatitis, and a visit to your vet is in order.

Usually a pancriatic attack stems from eating something really fatty. If the turkey had alot of skin and fat on it, that could be it.... if it were only meat, I wouldn't think so.

Could she have gotten into some trash at the park?

I too would feed only a rice/burger/yogert mix for a few days. It's pretty bland and helps get things back to normal.

Oh Lord...it's Thunder all over again! lol! Thunder was awful with his pancreatitis attacks. Poor thing...

She hasn't eaten in 2 days, no vomiting last night, no pooing, but she is staying in her crate almost nonstop. She doesn't want to be in there, but I can't follow her around with a bucket either. No messes in the crate, so that's a bright side. She wants to play...alot so I'm doubtful of parvo, but still very anxious.

All I can think is that the turkey could have had gravy on it, but I remember Thunder throwing up at the slightest change, even if he had a single dog treat.

SillyChicken, the only thing she could have gotten into is another dog's poo...it's not a large park, maybe .5 to 1 acre of fenced in property for the dogs to run in. Plus, they stayed next to me the entire time (go figure?).

I agree. Of course it depends which vet you ask, but immunity should protect the dog for a lifetime. Over vaccinating causes more problems than it prevents.

my uncles dog almost died after he gave him some pork. Even just the dog being sick for several days, take him to the vet. Better safe than sorry.

I seen in a older post of your that your ferret was throwing up. Ferrets are very susceptible to distemper. If your ferret did have it...it would easily pass to your dog. You really need to take your dog to the vet regardless of what's wrong. It's sick and it's your responsibility to care for it.

The ferret we figured out. It's her shedding time...after some medication to help with hairballs, she is again healthy and happy!

She's had her distemper shots as well...which reminds me..need to get her in again in April...

I'm not saying I'm not taking my dog to the vet Show Me Chick...I'm trying to find some food that she may be able to eat to help her tummy.

ETA: Will pre-formed hamburger patties that are ripped apart be fine? Do I need to cook it before feeding? I read that I need to wash it before feeding. Should the rice be the main thing for the meal? And only in very small amounts at that correct?

You can try boiled hamburger and rice but hamburger can be high in fat or canned pumpkin (plain not spiced pumpkin pie mix) with beef broth to get her to eat it. I'd opt for the latter first since pumpkin will help settle stomachs and stop diarrhea where boiled meat and rice is mostly just to get something in the dog while checking for allergies. If you know she's good with lamb you could also use that with rice and it will be lower in fat but it's generally not used since it tends to be too rich for most dogs. I would not use poultry meat just in case that's the actual problem. Since I have venison on hand I'd actually use that but it's not something you can run to the store for.

I didn't read the whole thread, bit it sounds like pancreatitis. Vida needs to go to the vet. She might get over it herself, but it is a very painful condition and the vet could readily sooth it. I know of a doberman that died from pancreatitis.
