Dog won’t stop biting her paws

Game plan:
Have husband and daughter to hold her still while I trim her toe fur ( and keep it trimmed from now on). She’s scared to death of electric clippers. She can be quite skiddish and check for fungal or bacterial infection and treat if that’s it if not. We will have to try to think what allergies or what’s new in her diet or surrounding that could cause this in the last week or 2 ( didn’t actually bleed till last night) though I can’t think of anything new
If we can’t come up with something there I’ll have to torture her with a trip to the vet to double check for allergy and ask about thyroid or OCD and what could be done. ( she’s one WEIRD dog). But that why we love her

Good plan. If it’s any consolation, my oldest (hotspot guy) is also deathly afraid of the vet. He has full blown anxiety attacks. Works himself up to a barking/whining/growling/panting mess. They know him by sight at the clinic because of how much of a scene he causes.. sigh.

Our other dog we found after MANY years of vet trips trying to get things under control with my other girl we found her biggest allergy other than like everything outside is wheat, corn and chicken. There are many other allergies but those are the biggest. Wheat is one of the top allergies for dogs and even if not allergic it’s not good for their digestive system. Removing those foods has helped a lot. We get the vet recommended food and I feed it to both. They’ve been eating this same brand only 2 flavors allowed for about 3 yrs now. A lot of my older dogs dermatitis were triggered by food allergies

Molly slipped out of her collar as soon as we hit the door last time and took off across the parking lot and was trying desperately trying to hide under my car but much too big. Takes me and the vet to get her in. And she usually shaking and pees on the floor. My older girl LOVES the vet. She gets all excited when we pull in the lot and just about drag me to the door. They all love Sadie so gets lots of attention

You don't have to be old to experience joint pain especially true of people and dogs that play hard. I'm sore after a hike or snowboarding or other physical activity, I suspect my dogs are sometimes too even if they don't always show it.

Oh def a possibility. I don’t expect that’s it but in life we need to expect the unexpected right? Something I’m also keeping on my thought train while we’re figuring this out. Border collies are prone to those things. Thanks

I’m glad some other people feel that way. Sometimes family members and coworkers will give me a hard time for the worry and care I put into my pets like medication and special food and down to paying for surgery on my cats ear but that’s what we vow to do when we adopt them. It’s adding another family member. I’ll never understand people who get a dog and a problem comes and they just give it away. How? Break my heart. They bring a special joys to our home and couldn’t imagine what it would be like without them now. Especially Molly. The house would be to quite She was definitely work in progress because she had some issue when we got her but she’s gotten so much better. Plus if she wasn’t hear who would irritate the cats

THAT's what I like to hear! Our current pup is a 7-month old BC and (we think) setter mix. She is also a rescue, a stray brought to Maryland from the rural backroads of Georgia. Skye (that's her on my avatar) is a real challenge, but we're working through it all. When we adopted her, we took her in as part of the family - and you don't give up, or give up on, family - ever!

You might try what I did. I took my little dog to the vet's office several times, but instead of getting treated, I had the staff give him a few pieces of hot dog. Or you can give him the pieces of hot dog or chicken or whatever yourself. Then we left. Now he likes going to the vet.
