Dogs are itchy, taking to vet, Paramite Dip question

sorry just found this today we are fighting the same have been the 2 1/2 years with Raudy now Moose has it we had a 300 dollar vet bill she oh fleas and food .. I buy kv vet supply 500 mg Fish pen forte penicillin Raudy has hair returning

I would wait until you get the results from the skin scraping unless you're absolutely sure of diagnosis before you try this paramite stuff. Have you seen any fleas on your dog? Am I reading correctly that they are only getting flea preventative every 2 months versus every month? If that is true, it could be as simple as flea meds every month. I wouldn't rule out sarcoptic mange (think that's what you meant?) until you get a clear skin scraping. Good luck!
Naa after years of using the K9 Advantic II for the Dogs and Revolution for the cat if we see itchiness we do hands on inspections. If we ever find a tick which happens about once every 3 years we treat them. I think I have found a flea or two on the cat maybe 2 times tops in the 10 years we have had them. We did belly/groin fold checks to rule that out first.

Also I would never treat for something I suspect before paying the vet to test for it, who in their right mind would do that?

Ditto Dat^^^.
Vet could call 'food allergy'.
Yeah but 3 out of 3 dogs(street rescue mutts) with allergies seems a remote chance I'll let the vet run the lab work on one of the dogs though as alergies can be blood tested.

I am changing foods again though as my family owned feed store doesn't carry this brand I've been using from another local feed store. So definately this is in the back of out heads too.

If you think you are dealing with Demodectic mange (some folks call if Red Mange), amitraz has always been the dip of choice. Amitraz was originally a swine dip and when sold by the quart for swine it is amazingly cheap. So the challenge now days is to find a supplier that sells this product for swine. And if you do dip your dogs, be sure to protect your skin at all costs. And remember Demodectic mange happens due a quirk of the dog's immune system. Many dogs will have the mites with no issue. (Humans have their own version of the demodex mite in their eyebrows). Other dogs who immune systems are out of whack will overreact to the presence of the mite. Kinda like a flea allergy. Good luck.
Yes Amitraz would be prefered Paramite, but I'm unable to source it at a reasonable price and why I'm looking at an offlable use of Paramite. Additionally, Ivermectin at higher doses than usually administered in the heartguard+ is a secondary treatment for Demo Mange.

for it to be flea allergies the dog doesn't actually have to HAVE fleas. Just pass through an area with them. The meds don't repel parasites, simply kill them once they are on the body. All it takes is a single flea to get a single bite and it can set off a whole body reaction.
I would go ahead and treat the yard, just to be on the safe side.

I've done my own heartworm meds for almost 14 years but you have to be super careful not to overdose. I also do it every 45 days, not every 30. A bottle of Noromectin (50 mL) lasts my 3 GSDs forever. I can't actually say how long because I've never emptied one - I throw them away because the date runs out long before the bottle is empty. Many breeders and kennel owners do that, even when using prescription meds. It does make a big difference in price when dosing multiple dogs but just be aware that it will negate the guarantee of the meds.
45 days is the actual required schedule, simply the guarantees and instructions are written for 30 so if you are a couple days "late" then the dog is still dosed within the 45 day timeline.

Paramite won't affect Demodectic mange. And I've seen limited success with the Ivermec regimen.

It will be interesting to hear what the Vet says.

Same here. 11:45 CST we have our appointment. I am holding off on "Topspotting" the pack until I get those results. I wouldn't want a false negative because I treated before testing. Same with tissue cultures in medicine you do cultures before antibiotics. However, if I come up with a positive the dogs will still be waiting 2-3 weeks for me to get that amitraz 100ml bottle manufactured in the Netherlands for $30 off of ebay. They have been living wth the itchies for about 1-2 months now so whats another 3 weeks?

After having lived in the EU for about 10 years I trust an EU pharma manufacturer to produce a much better product than an american one. They simply have better regulation there. Monsanto's roundup is a perfect example of that. Also, in the US 10.7ml=$46 dollars with no competition and only one manufacturer. Isn't the free market great how it is working for us?

I haven't read all yet.
I will come back and read soon I just wanted to tell you that I have a dog!

I have a dog that would not stop scratching...after many many different things we tried to help him it was FINALLY discovered that he has some type of bacteria infection in his blood that was causing the itch.
Have the vet check their blood.

(it was thought to be some type of bug at first and when the treatments for that didn't work they took blood)

Yep my vet is a good sleuth, at least for us she is, I am expecting blood work tomorrow. She is worth the money though so are the dogs I'm just not wanting a huge bill tomorrow, but expecting it will be like usual. It is almost starting to feel like I am making a monthly tithe to her office.

Ordinarily, I would try a few things first myself like benadryl for potential allergic response. But 3/3 and we live in a sea of roaming neighborhood dogs and almost every neighbor has a dog or 3 or 4 that have never seen a vet's office, or probably never even had vaccinations. So we have to work hard to keep our gals healthy. In our rescues we have seen parvo, distemper, feline leukemia, coccidosis, sacrophytic mange, all manner of worms and I am sure I am forgetting something.
